Effective Speaking

Often we may think that we speak and come across well because we are in the habit of it and therefore feel fairly comfortable while speaking. The problem is that anything you are in the habit of doing will feel comfortable - This does not necessarily mean that it looks or sounds good.
Most people rely on Powerpoint to get their message across and not their own ability. This is boring, has no power and leaves people cold. Human beings make decissions more with emotion than logic, therefore, a powerful speaker is the one who can get their message across by moving people emotionally.

Effective Speaking is about getting your message across powerfully, using your own personality and passion. Most business presentations are done in a "state of hypnosis", with very little creativity - the result is, "just another boring presentation". Exploring one's own passion and creativity leads to, "wow that was powerful". We as human beings are all moved and influenced by emotion (the human element). People buy from passionate and confident people. This is a crucial factor in getting your message across. |
Most companies encourage people to use Powerpoint because most people are not Effective Speakers. This is not to say that Powerpoint is not a useful tool when used in the right way.
More people fear public speaking than death. In our many years of experience we have found that it is as much about overcoming this fear or state while speaking than it is about the technical skills, which is why both are comprehensively covered.
The critical elements for getting results are confidence, self belief, professionalism, the willingness to be different and the genuine demonstration of having fun. These principles dictate the way in which the programme is run. Perception is everything when it comes to speaking, and delegates are shown what perception their current speaking style is creating and then how to create a perception of professionalism, confidence, passion, and sincerity.

- How to control your body language consciously in order to create a perception of passion, confidence and professionalism
- How to use powerpoint in a way that does not distract your audience from you, your passion and your message, but rather adds impact and illustration to it
- Each delegate will have a minimum of 5 recorded speeches as well as an individual coaching session on their own personalized DVD.
